Choose a path to run the coax cable from the source of the cable to the location of the new outlet. The ideal time is during the construction phase before the drywall is installed. The cable source is typically located near the electrical panel in the utility room.
Drill small holes in the center of the floor joists and wall framing members making a path between these two points. Starting at the source, pull the RG-6 cable through the holes all the way to the destination.
Hold the electrical box against a wood framing member and secure with two nails through its mounting holes.
Insert the coax cable through the side of the electrical box and secure by tightening the compression mechanism with a screwdriver.
Strip the end of the cable, with the large "Outer" stripper about 1 inch back. Place the wire in the stripper, close the handle, rotate the stripper two to three times and pull it off.
Place the wire in the wire stripper in the smaller "Inner" stripper, about 1/2 inch from the end and close the handle. Rotate the stripper back and forth and pull off the outer section.
Insert the male RG-6 terminal onto the end of the wire so that the inner core comes out the center of the connector.
Wrap the wire crimper around the RG-6 connector and compress the end closest to the cable.
Cut the center of the coax cable, with the wire cutters, so that it is flush with the end of the connector.
Insert the connector through the cable face plate and secure by threading the supplied nut on the end.
Attach the faceplate to the electrical box with screws in the the top and bottom.
