Turn off the main disconnect breaker or switch on the top of the breaker panel to turn off the power. Use an electrical power meter to test and make sure the power is completely off. In rare circumstances the box may stil be electrified, creating a dangerous situation for anyone working inside the box.
Attach the black wire from the breaker pannel to the threaded hole on the top or bottom of the breaker. This wire can be secured by twisting the wire into the breaker.
Attach the coiled white wire coming from the breaker to the bar that is exposed in the back of the breaker box. This bar is known as the neutral bus bar.
Gently slide the breaker into position between the tension clips in the breaker box. The back of the breaker should press firmly against the main bus bar in the box. Continue pressing firmly until the two tension clips snap over the breaker, securing it in place.
