How to Install My Hunter Thermostat 44668 With 7 Wires

If you plan to install a Hunter 44668 programmable thermostat, understand that the thermostat only requires the use of six wires. If your furnace has a seven-wire configuration, you can still utilize the Hunter 44668 thermostat. Each wire going to the existing thermostat or the wire extending from the new furnace has a label attached to it that tells where to connect the wire. This makes the process much easier to complete.

Instructions

Attach the labeled titled “HR” to the wire previously labeled HR,R,VR or 4. Attach the label titled “RC” to the wire previously labeled RC or VC. Attach the label titled “Y/O” to the wire previously labeled Y,M,O. Attach the label titled “W/B” to the wire previously labeled, W,H or B. Attach the label titled “G” to the wire previously labeled G or F. The wire previously labeled “Y1” stays labeled Y1. However, you will receive a new label with the thermostat so if you choose, attach the label titled “Y1” to the wire previously labeled “Y1.”

Cut the metal exposed contact off the wire labeled “C” because this is the wire you will not use during the installation.

    • 3

Disconnect all of the wires from the previous thermostat if applicable by loosening the Phillip’s screw on the terminals. Place the mounting base onto the wall in a level position and secure it to the wall with the supplied screws.

    • 4

Match up each label on the wire with the corresponding labeled terminal screw and then tighten the screws with a screwdriver.
