Instructions

Determine the location where you wish to place the hanging lamp. Locate the wooden joist that runs behind the ceiling with a stud finder and mark the spot with a pencil. Drill a starter hole into the joist with a power drill fitted with a bit smaller than the diameter of the screw on the swag hook.

Insert the tip of a swag hook into the starter hole and screw the hook clockwise until it is completely inserted. Measure the length of chain needed to hang the lamp according to the elevation that you prefer with a tape measure. Hook the decorative chain that supports the lamp onto the swag hook according to your measurement.

Drill a second starter hole along the corner of the ceiling beside the first swag hook, then screw the second swag hook into the ceiling. Hook the decorative chain onto the second swag hook, but allow the chain to drape gracefully along the ceiling. Plug the power cord into a wall outlet to see if the lamp is working.
