Evolis Switchboard Components

Medium Voltage or MV vacuum circuit breakers contain a switchboard. MV vacuum circuit breakers provide centralized control and protection of medium-voltage power equipment used in utility, industrial, commercial, mining and marine equipment installations. Installations that involve generators, motors, feeder circuits and transmission and distribution lines require this type of circuit breaker. The switchboard contained in the circuit breaker is made up of several components.
  1. Components

    • The Evolis Merlin Gerin MV vacuum circuit breaker contains a switchboard with the following components: fixed coupling link, withdrawable coupling link, busbar earthing truck, circuit-breaker extraction table, ramp for cradle access, busbar cover, voltage indicator, voltage indicator insulator, insulator support, phase comparator, high-resistance plastic window, cubicle-compartment handle and a heating resistor.

    Accessories

    • Some installation procedures require the use of separate circuit-breaker accessories, such as a fixed footing, alternate bushing assemblies, a racking base, a field deflector, additional position contacts or additional earthing sliding devices. An electrician has a variety of circuit-breaker releases to choose from or he can opt for a LV plug and socket for fixed installation breakers.

    Evolis Circuit Breaker

    • Evolis circuit breakers protect and control public and industrial medium-voltage electrical distribution networks. Their indoor switchgear is mainly for the production and renovation of electrical sub-stations. The circuit breaker protects cables, lines, motors, capacitors and transformers. Evolis circuit breakers are available for fixed or withdrawable installation.

    Endurance Capabilities

    • A magnetic field along the axis of the vacuum-interrupter contacts maintains the electrical arc, even in high current. The magnetic field ensures optimum distribution of energy to avoid hot spots. The Evolis MV circuit breaker provides mechanical endurance through an external coil that surrounds the contact zone. The coil prevents solid contacts to prevent distortion during repeated switching operations.
