How to Install an Electrical Box in Logix Forms

As energy costs rise, home builders are paying closer attention to the efficiency of the building. The most cost effective way to reduce heating and cooling costs is by increasing insulation throughout the house. Logix insulated concrete forms is one method of increasing the insulation for basements in homes. The challenge comes when installing electrical boxes and wiring with foam walls.

Things You'll Need

  • Electrical chainsaw with an adjustable roller depth stop
  • Wrench
  • Chisel
  • Foam adhesive

      Place the electrical box in the location on the wall you want to install it and outline its shape on to the wall with a marker.

      Loosen the adjustable roller depth stop on the chainsaw with a wrench. Adjust the stop to the depth of the electrical box and tighten it back down.

      Align the chainsaw with the vertical markings on the wall and cut along the line so the depth stop is flush with the wall surface. Repeat this process to cut the other vertical line on the wall.

      Hold the chainsaw on its side and align its blade with the horizontal marked line on the wall. Cut along the line using the same method as the vertical lines. Repeat this process to cut the other horizontal line

      Cut several vertical slits down the middle of the electrical box cut out with the saw.

      Insert a chisel into the center slots and break away the foam by prying it out.

      Spray a small amount of foam adhesive on the back of the cut out hole.

      Push the electrical box into the cut out and apply some pressure until the adhesive holds the box in place.
