How to Hook Up a Battery Back to an Astron Power Supply

An Astron power supply is an electronic device used for communication. Service shops, radio stations and other places use them to communicate with others in their field. An Astron power supply runs off of AC electricity. If your power goes out, you can hook up a battery back-up to it to keep it running for a while longer.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the trace on the PCB of the Astron power supply. Cut it between Pin 4 of IC UA723 and the R5 wiper.

    • 2

Use a 10K ohm ¼ or ½ watt resister to bridge the cut you just made in the trace.

    • 3

Set the output voltage by adjusting the R5 wiper to the desired voltage amount.

    • 4

Hook the battery to the power supply by clipping the black clip to the negative (-) symbol and the red clip to the positive (+) symbol.
