How to Wire a Vickers Hydraulic Valve

Vickers hydraulic valves are used in hydraulic manifold assemblies to control the flow of fluid in a motor or cylinder. When the valves are wired correctly, the valves are electrically controlled to start the flow into the motor, stop the flow, or control which direction the fluid needs to go. An experienced electrician should perform the correct installation of the wiring to ensure the hydraulic valve works correctly.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off all power where the valve will be connected. Place valve and cable connection away from other cables that have a heavy current or operate with portable radio transmitters.

    • 2

Place a wire stripper on the ends of the four wires. Pull the wire stripper away from you, taking off the installation at the end of the wires until a half-inch of the wire is bare.

    • 3

Attach the white lead wires to the solenoid "A" pin on the left side of the solenoid. If the solenoid pin is a screw application, use a slotted screwdriver to unwind the screw until you have enough clearance to wrap the white wires on the pin or place the wire into a hole in the solenoid. Secure the wires by twisting the screw back down until the wires cannot pull loose.

Connect the black lead wires to the solenoid "B" pin on the right side of the solenoid. Check the black wires to ensure they are properly connected without touching the white lead wires.
