Turn off the power supply to the bathroom switch at the fuse box or main circuit breaker. Test the switch by flipping it on to ensure the electric supply is disconnected.
Remove the switch’s cover plate from the wall using a screwdriver. This plate is typically a piece of plastic or metal that covers the switch and conceals wires.
Loosen and remove the mounting screws that secure the bathroom’s light switch inside the electrical box using a screwdriver. These screws are typically located on the upper and lower edge of the switch. Grasp the switch and gently pull it loose a few inches from the electrical box to expose the wires.
Loosen both the screws located at the right of the switch that hold the two wires protruding from the wall. Because the wires vary in color, ensure you know which wire came out from which screw. Also loosen and remove the ground screw at the base of the switch.
Hold the new switch up against the wall. Extend the two wires to the screws at the back of the switch according to the previous wire colors. Tighten the screws so they secure the wires to the switch.
Wrap the copper wire around the screw at the bottom of the switch and tighten the screw with a screwdriver. Carefully push the wires and switch into the box. Drive the screws provided with the new switch into the holes in the box using a screwdriver, until the assembly is secured.
Put the switch plate back on the new light switch. Turn the power supply to the bathroom back on.
