How to Install an LC200 GTO Wire Splice

The LC200 GTO Wire Splice is a wire connector used for high-voltage applications, specifically for powering neon signs. The LC200 is equipped to handle high voltages and withstand outdoor weather conditions without shorting out. However, it can wear out over time. If the sign will not light, chances are good the wire splice may be bad. Replacing a wire splice takes about 30 minutes.

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Replacement LC200 GTO Wire Splice

Instructions

    • 1

      Shut off power to the neon sign from the breaker box.

      Use an open-end wrench to remove the retaining bolt holding the wiring panel shut. The wiring panel is located at the base of the sign.

      Disconnect the wire splice from the electric wiring harness by hand.

      Loosen the retaining screws on the end of the old wire splice, untwist the end of each wire and pull the wires out through the back of the old wire splice.

      Trim the wire edges if they are frayed and strip back the silicon sheathing.

      Feed the wires through the new replacement LC200 GTO Wire Splice in the order in which they were connected to the old wire splice.

      Tighten the wire splice retaining screws to clamp the wires in place.

      Plug the new wire splice into the plastic wiring harness.

      Replace the access panel cover bolt and restore power to the sign.
