Some fishing poles have nothing to do with finned creatures from the deep. When it comes to electrical work, fishing poles are used to "fish" for electrical wiring and pull it through a conduit. These poles generally are extendable, with hooked ends that can snake through a conduit, grasp the end of a wire and pull it through to the end. While there are methods to push wiring through, pulling with a fishing pole usually is easier. The fish pole often has a hook at its tip that connects to a circular fitting attached to the end of the wire. Poles are available in both telescoping versions that expand as needed and versions that use extensions that attach to each other to increase the length of the pole.
Instructions

1
Climb your stepladder and remove the ceiling panels from ceiling at the spots where the wire begins and you wish it to end.

-
3
Attach a fitting to the end of the wire and a hook to the end of the fish pole and connect them.
-
4
Pull the wire toward the endpoint with the fish pole, collapsing it or removing extensions as you go, until the wire reaches the end.
