Gable Vent Styles

Gable vents used to be hidden on the sides of homes but newer architectural designs put gables in front of the house so gable vents have become a decorative as well as functional part of the home
  1. Function

    • Gable vents allow warm, moist air to escape from the attic where it could otherwise cause problems

    Shapes

    • Gable vents come in almost any shape and size imaginable to fit the style of the home. Half-round, diamond, rectangular, octagon and many other designs are available. They also come in a variety of colors to match the home.

    Material

    • Gable vents are produced of wood, metal or vinyl but are made to fit well on any building surface including brick, stucco and wood.

    Weather

    • Vents include a set or double set of louvers that help keep precipitation outside. Louvers also add a classic feature to the home's appearance.

    Insects

    • The inside of gable vents is covered by screening material that prevents insects, birds and other animals from entering the home.

    Durability

    • Gable vents are made to last and usually include UV and color fading inhibitors.
