Open the battery compartment lid on the back of the ceiling fan's remote control. Remove the batteries and place them aside. Place the tip of a flat-edged jeweler's screwdriver against one of the "Dip" switches are on the remote.
Push the "Dip" switch up or down, as per the instructions that accompany the ceiling fan, to set it for a specific RF (radio-frequency) signal. Repeat this procedure with the other "Dip" switches so that the final configuration is the same as one of the RF signal settings provided in the instructions. Place the batteries back into the battery compartment and close the lid.
Place a ladder beneath the ceiling fan and climb up so you can reach the fan.
Place the tip of the flat-edged screwdriver against one of the "Dip" switches on the top of the motor housing. Push the switch up or down so that it is in the same position as that of the similar "Dip" switch on the remote. Repeat this procedure with the other "Dip" switches so that the final configuration is the same as that on the remote. Climb back down the ladder and put it away.
