Ceiling-Mounted Projector Installation

Ceiling-mounted projectors offer the most effective positioning of a projector to obtain an unobstructed view. Mounting the projector on the ceiling ensures that people watching the screen cannot interfere with the projection unless they are close to the screen itself. This also makes the projector more receptive to the remote, which can easily be pointed upward to activate the device unless an external, remote sensor is used. Ceiling installation is secure and can be done in a very short time.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate joists with the stud finder in the ceiling area where the projector is to be installed. The projector must be installed into a joist with at least two of its screws to be secure. Mark the of joists you will use.

    • 2

Position the projector mount on the ceiling and line up as many of the screw holes as possible with marked joists. Mark the location of each screw hole, both those on studs and those outside of the studs. Remove the projector mount.

    • 3

Drill into each marked hole, making sure that the holes over studs hit studs securely. Redrill holes if necessary when studs are not found where they are expected.

    • 4

Drill the other holes not hitting studs and set the heaviest-load drywall anchors available within the holes. Screw them into place.

    • 5

Position the projector mount over the holes and set 3-inch wood screws with washers into each of the holes.

    • 6

Tighten each screw halfway until they are all in place, then tighten the screws fully to secure the mount to the ceiling.

    • 7

Put the projector in the projector mount and tighten it firmly in place using the included mount attachments.

    • 8

Plug in the projector and run the cables back to the presentation area.
