How to Use Nail Screws

Nail screws are a pneumatic nail and a deck screw all in one. Nail screws can be used on decks, roof decking, subfloors, pallet and crating. A nail screw is used and installed like a nail, but they hold or stay in the wood like a screwdriver was used. You can remove nail screws or drive them deeper into the wood with a hex driver.

Instructions

    • 1

Buy the type of nail screws needed for your project. Nail screws come in different lengths, from 1 3/4 inches to 3 inches. These screws can match the wood color of your project, coming in brown, tan, gray and cedar. Ceramic-coated nail screws resist corrosion.

    • 2

Install the nail screws into a pneumatic nailer, according to the manufacturer's directions.

    • 3

Drive the nail screws into your particular project with the pneumatic nailer. Line up the nailer on the material and, depending on the tool, either bump the nailer against the wood or simply squeeze the trigger.
