How to Apply Glue to Wood Veneer

Wood veneer can provide an attractive finish to furniture, cabinets and other items made from wood. Veneer is a thin slice of wood that attaches to surfaces with glue. Cold press veneer glue is the easiest type of adhesive to use, as it's made specifically for the task. With the right tools and supplies, applying wood veneer is easy to do.

Instructions

    • 1

Squeeze a liberal amount of glue onto the substrate, which is the surface that you'll be attaching the wood veneer to.

    • 2

Use a glue roller to spread the glue around the entire surface area of the substrate. The glue roller ensures even coverage. Wipe any excess glue off of the roller during the process if necessary.

Line up the veneer with the furniture or other item, and gently press the veneer onto the substrate. The veneer is now in place.
