How to Install a Sears 10 Inch Band Saw Blade

A band saw features a toothed band of metal as its blade. The blade moves around two wheels at very high speeds and can be used to cut everything from wood to metal with relative ease. Like all blade types, band saw blades will wear out and dull over time. Luckily, you can have a new band saw blade installed and have your machine back up and running in a matter of minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug your Sears 10-inch band saw from its power source.

    • 2

Loosen the tension adjuster for the uppermost blade wheel.

    • 3

Push the blade guides open and remove the old band saw blade from the wheels (if necessary).

    • 4

Slip the new saw blade over the wheels so that it rests in between the blade guides.

    • 5

Tighten the tension adjuster until the blade is tight enough that it will not fall off of the wheels.

    • 6

Turn the upper wheel with your hand to get the blade to set into the wheel track. Adjust each wheel's axis with your free hand to ensure the blade is lined up straight on the wheels.

    • 7

Close the blade guides in around the saw blade.
