How to Install Blum European Hinges

Measure in 3 inches from the top and bottom of the hinged-side of the inside of the cabinet door and make a pencil mark. Use a carpenter's square to make a horizontal center-line 3 inches long on the pencil marks to mark the location of the hinges. Use two hinges for a door up to 36 inches tall, and three hinges for larger doors. Make a center-line in half the distance of the other two marks if you will be using three hinges.

Hold the door up to the cabinet and transfer the marks on the cabinet door to the inside of the cabinet on the side that will be hinged with a pencil.

Drill on the center-lines on the back of the cabinet door with a 1-3/8-inch Forstner bit (a drill bit that makes a smooth-sided hole) installed into a power drill to a depth of 1/2 inch. Keep the hole to within 1/16-inch to 1/4-inch away from the edge of the door, depending on how much of the door you want to overlap on the outside of the cabinet. Drill all holes at the same distance from the edge of the door.

Push the hinge cups into the drilled holes. Twist the screws provided into the mounting holes with a Phillips screwdriver until tight.

Mount the hinge mounting clips 37 mm back from the edge of the cabinet on the center-lines you transferred from the cabinet door. Secure the clips with the screws provided and a Phillips screwdriver.

Hold the door up to the cabinet. Push the arms of the hinges into the hinge mounting clips until they snap into place. Adjust the door fit as needed by twisting the adjustment screws on the arm of the hinge with a Phillips screwdriver.
