The Advantages of a Low-Profile Belt Sander

Belt sanders are valuable tools for painters and carpenters, as belt sanders are capable of sanding down wood surfaces to make them smooth and are powerful enough to remove paint and other material so wood can be repainted. Traditional belt sanders are generally large and heavy, a disadvantage you won't find with the smaller, low-profile belt sanders.
  1. Portable

    • Because low-profile belt sanders are relatively small and light, they can be easily moved around and transported to different locations. Also, the smaller size of these sanders allows them to squeeze into tight spaces, which would be difficult--and sometimes impossible--to access and maneuver in with traditional belt sanders.

    Quick

    • The smaller, more compact size of low-profile sanders enables work to be done more quickly than with traditional belt sanders. These sanders exert the same relative power from the motor, but also allow you to get closer to the edge of adjoining surfaces, giving you contact over a greater surface area.

    Balanced

    • Low-profile belt sanders are generally more balanced and comfortable to hold than traditional sanders. In tight spaces and large open areas like floors, these sanders remain evenly stabilized while sanding, they provide a steadier grip and they are easier to control while in motion.
