Mark the cement block wall with a grease marker in the location where the hole is needed. A grease marker will be easier to see than a pencil or pen mark.
Install the proper sized masonry drill bit into the chuck on the end of the drill. Open the chuck all the way with the key provided or in the case of a key-less chuck, with your hand. Insert the square end of the bit into the chuck and tighten the chuck.
Hold the drill at a 90 degree angle to the wall on the grease mark. This will ensure that the hole you drill is straight.
Apply steady pressure on the drill and squeeze the trigger. Keep applying pressure and holding the drill at a 90 degree angle until the bit is all the way through the wall.
