How to Repair an Orbital Sander

Orbital sanders are great for sanding wood and drywall, and they work for just about any project you have. The problem with orbital sanders is that, on most of them, the sandpaper is attached to the backer pad with Velcro. If the sandpaper gets stuck on something while sanding, chances are it will start twisting the Velcro off the backer pad. Once your backer pad is damaged, you will need to replace it before you can continue sanding.

• Backer pad
• Screwdriver

     Remove the backer pad.

     Remove the screws inside the holes of the backer pad, using the screwdriver.

   • 3

     Align the new backer pad with the holes on your orbital sander. Secure the pad with the screws, using your screwdriver.
