Select a spot to mount your ironing board. Leave about 56 inches of clearance along the wall you intend to mount the board to and 44 inches in front of the board. This way you will be able to open the door containing the board, drop it down and swivel it in any direction you desire. Do not place the board near electrical or mechanical fixtures, as you risk penetrating them when you cut in to the wall.
Determine the height of the ironing board from the floor. Subtract 9 inches from the height and mark the spot on the wall, between two studs. If your ideal height is 36 inches, for example, you would mark for the bottom of the board installation at 27 inches.
Locate the studs using a stud finder and mark the interior edges. Mark a hole that is 14 1/4 inches wide and 46 1/4 inches tall at the height you have already determined. Once you are satisfied with your installation location, cut the hole open using a drywall saw or utility knife. Most drywall is less than 3/4-inch thick, so cut carefully!
Construct the cabinet per the manufacturer's directions. Close the door and place the completed cabinet inside the hole you have cut. Open the door once the cabinet is snugly in place. Use four or more 1 5/8-inch screws to secure the cabinet to the wall by screwing through the inside sides of the cabinet into the studs.
