Bolt Latch

• The bolt latch is also known as the crossbar latch; it consists of two parts of a latch in which a bar is shot from one cabinet door to the other or from one cabinet door into the wall or cabinet frame. The bar prevents the cabinets from opening until the bar is retracted. The bolt may be shot from a barrel, from a turning rotary interface or from a spring pull system. Bolt latches for your cabinet may be made from stainless steel, cast iron or aluminum alloy, among other materials.

Paddle Latch

• A paddle latch consists of an interface where a switch or handle is pulled out or flipped up to fasten and unfasten the cabinet door or doors. They are sturdy latches that are typically created in steel and stainless steel, and they are suited for heavy-duty cabinets where there may be pressure exerted from the inside. Another advantage of paddle latches is that when the switch or handle is pressed closed, it lies flush with the surface of the cabinet, reducing protrusions in tight spaces.

Slam Latch

• Slam latches are convenient in that they do not require you to flip a switch or turn a bolt. Slam latches use a spring to lock the cabinet door closed when it is shut. The slam latch then holds the cabinet door closed until it is opened again. These latches undergo pressure and shock regularly and are typically made out of sturdy materials like zinc, steel and strong plastics. Like the slam latch, they do not have any outward protrusions. They are typically used with cabinets that have gaps or knobs that can be used to pull them open.
