How to Repair a Poulan Pro 295

Poulan Pro 295 is a gas chainsaw. It is often used for tasks such as tree felling, limbing and pruning. Occasionally, you may encounter issues with your machine. Your chainsaw engine may not start or the chain may not turn or cut properly. Regardless of the issue, follow certain troubleshooting steps to resolve it. Note that you can apply some of these techniques to other gas chainsaws.

      Make sure that the "On/Off" switch is in the "On" position.

      Refill the fuel tank if the existing fuel/oil mixture is too old. Open the tank on the chainsaw and drain out the mixture. Use a funnel to add fresh fuel mixture to the tank. Make sure you do not overflow the tank. Stop when the tank is moderately full. Note that you can buy new fuel and oil from the store where you bought the chainsaw.

      Turn off your chainsaw if you smell fuel while trying to operate it. Chances are that your fuel tank is flooded. To resolve the issue, turn it off and wait for at least half an hour till the excess fuel evaporates. Turn it back on and start using it.

      Check the fuel filter in the fuel tank. Open the fuel tank and drain your unit of fuel. Next, remove the fuel cap/retainer assembly from the tank. Gently pull out the filter. Purchase a new fuel filter from the store where you bought the chainsaw. Replace the original filter. Close the fuel cap. Refill the fuel tank. Close the fuel tank.

      Clean the air filter every five hours of usage. Use a cleaning cloth to wipe any dirt of debris that may have accumulated on the top cover. Next, remove the top cover of the chainsaw. Locate the air filter inside it. Gently remove the air filter. Use soap water to clean the filter and get rid of any dirt or debris. Rinse the filter with clean, cold water. Dry the filter in the sun for at least one to two hours before putting it back on.
