Drill chucks are pressed into the drill press arbor, which in turn mounts inside the spinning shaft of a drill press. A drill press allows for the use of multiple different-sized drill bits. However, each drill chuck has a limitation in the largest size. For example, a 1-inch drill bit will not fit into a drill chuck with a maximum size of 3/8-inch. If you need to use a drill bit this size, you must remove the drill chuck from the arbor so you can install a larger drill chuck. With the correct tools, you can quickly remove the drill chuck from your drill press.
