How to Make a Lower Stool out of a Higher Stool

Occasionally there will come a time when you will have to reduce the height of a stool. This may need to be done to allow a child to climb into the stool. You may also have to lower the height because you have moved, and a bar or kitchen island is lower than the previous furniture. Lowering the stool can be done with tools around the house.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the height from the floor to the bar. Remember you will want to have at least 12 inches between the seat and the bottom of the bar or table it is going to fit underneath.

    • 2

Transfer the measurements to the legs of the bar stool. Mark where the cuts will be with a pencil.

    • 3

Cut across the marks with the saw. Check to see if the bar stool is level. If it is not, you can sand the portion that is not level.
