Mix 1 cup hot water with several drops of liquid dish soap.
Dip a scrubbing brush into the soapy water. Scrub in the direction of the grain.
Scrub the surface of the teak wood until it is completely clean. Rinse the wood with clear water and let it dry completely for several hours or days.
Rub a medium-grit sanding block over the surface of the teak wood. Sand with the grain, applying even pressure. Sanding blocks provide an even surface. Work until the surface of the wood is even and until the oil color is gone.
Rub a fine-grit sanding block over the surface of the teak wood. Sand until the wood is smooth and soft.
