Put on the gloves. Scoop one tablespoon of boric acid and two tablespoons of sugar into a container, preferably a spray bottle with a top. Add a cup of water and close the lid. Shake it vigorously until you have a uniform solution.
Spray the mixture on a cotton wad and place it in the paths of carpenter ants on and around the wood area. Repeat twice a week to totally get rid of them.
Mix propylene glycol with a cup of boric acid and 15 to 18 ounces of warm water in a spray bottle.
Tighten the cap of the spray bottle and shake it to have a well formed mixture. Spray on the affected wood to get rid of the wood boring insects such as beetles and termites. Repeat once a week until the insects are gone.
