How to Fix a Very Tiny Chip in Formica

Clean the chip in the laminate. Use a rag with a little bit of water and a mild detergent to clean the chip in the laminate and the area around the chip. Use a dry rag to dry the area you will be working on.

Buy the laminate repair kit. You can find a laminate repair kit in most hardware stores and stores that sell kitchen cabinets. Make sure you buy the laminate repair kit that is closest to the color of the laminate you will be repairing.

Use a paper plate to mix the hardener with the filler. Read the instructions of the laminate repair kit for exact mixing directions as they vary by manufacturer.

Apply the filler and hardener mixture to the chip in the laminate. Use the application stick included with the laminate repair kit to apply the filler to the laminate. Apply only enough of the filler mixture so the chip is even with the rest of the laminate surface. Let the filler dry for at least 1 hour to allow the surface to cure.

Clean the surface with a rag and mild detergent after the filler has cured. Dry the surface with a dry rag. If your laminate repair kit is colorless and requires you to paint the chip after the filler has dried, then apply the paint to the repaired chip with the color pen. Let the paint dry for 24 hours, then clean the surface and enjoy your fixed laminate surface. Most laminate repair kits will feature matching-colored filler so you do not have to paint the surface with a color pen.
