Remove the shelves from the cabinet if it currently has fixed shelves that you are replacing. Remove the shelf clips from the holes in the sides of the cabinet. You can usually remove the clips by hand, but pull them out carefully with a pair of pliers if they are stuck.
Measure from the front of the cabinet 3 inches inward at the top, middle and bottom of the cabinet side. Place a small mark at each location, using a colored pencil. If you use a regular pencil, you may not be able to see the marks on the inside of the cabinet. Measure from the back 3 inches inward at the top, middle and bottom, and mark the locations. Repeat this procedure for the other side of the cabinet. When you're finished, there will be six marks on each side of the cabinet designating where the brackets will be secured.
Place a flashlight in the cabinet so you can see the marks more clearly. Place one bracket on the side of the cabinet so it is even with all three marks.
Drill pilot holes through the bracket and into the cabinet in the location of the screw holes. Use an electric drill with a drill bit sized according to the specifications on the bracket kit. Repeat this process with all four brackets, making sure they are aligned with the marks you made in Step 2.
Replace the drill bit with a driver bit. Hold a bracket on the marks, and align the screw holes with the pilot holes you drilled into the side of the cabinet. It does not matter which bracket is the first to be installed. Fasten a screw into each screw hole, using the electric drill with the driver bit installed. Do not overdrive the screws, but just make them snug. Install all four brackets, using the same procedure.
