Screws of all varieties have been around since the first century. In 1770, the first successful screw cutting lathe was invented by Jesse Ramden, an English instrument maker. Other successful inventors include Henry Maudslay (square drive screws, circa 1908) and Henry F. Phillips (Phillips head screw, circa 1930s). The coin-head screw is similar to the flathead screw.
Some laptop computers can be taken apart by using a coin instead of a traditional screwdriver. Because laptops are so compact, they are more difficult to take apart for repairs or an upgrade. Computer bloggers find that using a coin or flathead screwdriver work the best to depress clips that may hold the keyboard in place.
Expose the diverter of the spray you are fixing and then remove the spray diverter by using a coin or a flathead screwdriver. The entire diverter, along with the rubber gasket attached, should come out after a little loosening.
Many times, campers, and most often, backpackers, get good use out of a coin-head screw. It can be used on certain types of camping gear when access to tools may not be readily available. After all, keeping a coin in the pocket of a pair of pants is much easier than carrying around a screwdriver.
