How to Clean a Paslode

Paslode manufacturers a wide line of finish nailers and nail guns. Like all nails guns, the Paslode models need to be properly maintained and cleaned to ensure top performance. Failure to clean a nail gun properly will result in stuck nails and bent pins. In most cases people clean their nail gun by basic brushing, but to ensure you get no more stuck nails you must properly clean it. With the right supplies and directions you can quickly clean your Paslode nailer.

Things You'll Need

  • 5/32-inch hex wrench
  • Degreaser cleaner
  • Lubricating oil
  • Screwdriver
  • Rag

Instructions

      Remove the two hex screws on the front of your Paslode nail gun using the hex wrench, and remove the four hex screws on the top of the air filter cap. Separate the handle assembly from the motor assembly by pulling the two pieces apart from each other after removing the hex screws.

      Clean the grill and air filter using the degreaser cleaner. Spray the degreaser cleaner on the air filter until all dust and debris falls out of it.

      Use the degreaser cleaner to spray the cylinder head and other parts of the motor assembly to remove the dirt and debris. Wipe the assembly clean with the rag. Push the piston assembly to the down position using the handle portion of the screwdriver. Spray degreaser into the piston assembly and invert it to drain it out. Use the rag to remove remove any remaining residue.

      Coat the seal rings with the lubricating oil. Squeeze five drops of oil into the sleeve and the combustion chamber.

      Push the motor assembly back to the handle assembly and reinstall the hex screws to secure it in place.
