How to Troubleshoot a Ridgid 10 Portable Table Saw

The Ridgid 10-inch portable table saw is produced by the Ridgid Tool Company, which was founded in 1927 and has a product line that also includes drills, air tools and drain-cleaning equipment. A table saw is a valuable tool when you need to cut larger pieces of wood with precision. Unlike other types of saws, the table saw remains stationary; you move the work through the saw. If you encounter minor issues with your Ridgid table saw, try some basic troubleshooting remedies before calling for service.

Instructions

    • 1

Replace the saw blade with a new one if you notice excessive vibration from the saw while you work.

    • 2

Obtain a gum-removal solution and apply it to the threads of the elevating hand wheel if it is hard to turn. Sawdust sometimes gets stuck in the threads.

    • 3

Feed your work through the table saw more slowly if it overheats during use. Sweep or vacuum away any sawdust that has accumulated around the motor or saw blade.

    • 4

Unplug some tools or appliances so the circuit isn't overloaded if the saw isn't reaching full power. Change the fuse of reset the circuit breaker if you think that is the problem.

    • 5

Check the voltage with a portable voltage tester or phone your power company to come and test it to ensure the saw is within the proper limits if the motor continually starts slowly or has trouble reaching full speed.
