How to Fix a Broken Stair Post

Stair rails consist of various parts to support the banister while adding an interesting framework to your staircase. Stair posts can break if you lean on them too much or if the wood had a defect that went unnoticed during installation. Replace the broken stair post as soon as possible to relieve any added tension of the other posts and to keep you and your family safe on the staircase. Purchase a replacement post that is 1/4 to 3/8 inch longer than the original post.
