How to Hide a Dent in a Desk

Over time, contact stress from falling objects or office supply abuse results in unsightly dents. Instructions

    • 1

Clean the damaged area of the desk with a sponge and soapy water.

    • 2

Fill the dented spots with wood putty, if repairing a wood desk. If repairing a metal or plastic desk, mix epoxy resin with hardener and fill the dented spots with epoxy.

    • 3

Smooth the putty or epoxy with a putty knife to make the repaired portion level with the rest of the desk. Allow the putty or epoxy to dry overnight.

    • 4

Sand the putty or epoxy to create an even surface and to feather the repaired area into the rest of the desk.

    • 5

Apply paint and/or varnish over the repaired area to match it to the desk’s original finish.
