Lay the wood on the work bench and draw the circular patterns on the wood with a pencil. Make perfect circles or curves on the wood using a compass.
Position the wood on the work bench so that the cut out section is over the edge. Secure the wood to the bench with several wood clamps.
Cut along the marked lines with a jig saw. Remove the rough edges from the cut line with sandpaper.
Drill a 3/4 inch hole in the center of the cut out section if it is located in the middle of the wood.
Cut the wood with a jig saw, using the drilled hole as the starting point.
Mark the dead center of the circle on the wood with a pencil.
Choose the hole saw with the diameter of cut you need the hole to be. Loosen the chuck on the drill and insert the hole saw's shaft into the drill's chuck. Turn the chuck counter clockwise to tighten it.
Position the wood on the bench so that the hole is over the edge of the work bench. Secure the wood to the bench with several wood clamps.
Align the center drill bit on the hole saw, with the center marking for the hole. Position the drill perpendicular to the wood.
Press down on the drill gently to drill the hole through the wood. Allow the drill to work its way through the wood naturally for the cleanest cut. Remove the rough edges from the hole with sand paper.
