DIY Fixing a Loose Cabinet Bracket

Cabinet doors suffer from constant opening and closing, making the hinge loose over time. As the hub of a household, kitchen cabinetry is especially susceptible to this wear and tear. To keep the bracket tight and the door swinging properly, tighten any loose brackets right away before real damage is done to the door and the door bracket. Over time, a loose bracket will bend, making it necessary to replace the whole piece rather than just making a quick repair.

Instructions

    • 1

Examine the door hinge to determine the type of screw head used in the bracket.

    • 2

Hold the door firmly in one hand and lift it up until the bracket is flush against the door and the cabinet.

    • 3

Screw the bracket into place, turning the screwdriver clockwise until the screws are flush with the bracket and tightly in place.

    • 4

Replace any screws that remain loose after ample turning with ones slightly longer than the originals. Screw new screws into the cabinet door through the bracket hole and twist the screwdriver clockwise to tighten.
