Mounting a Picture Hanger on a Brick Wall

Brick walls add a modern, urban appeal to an interior space. Just because the surface material is harder than drywall doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a room adorned with pictures. Mounting a picture hanger on a brick wall is much like mounting one on a standard wall, with a few additional steps.

Things You'll Need

  • Pencil
  • Drill with masonry bit

Instructions

    • 1

Mark the spot on the brick where you plan to install the picture hook by placing an “X” with a pencil.

    • 2

Drill a hole into the brick using a masonry bit large enough to accommodate a wall anchor, which is a sleeve that gives a standard screw additional grip.

    • 3

Pound the wall anchor into the hole with a hammer until it’s inserted fully.

    • 4

Attach a screw-mounted wall hanger into the wall anchor so you can hang the picture.
