How to Install a Curtain Rod Sconce Bracket

Place the curtain rod over the window where the curtain will hang. The curtain rod sconce is typically for the valance, which hangs at the top of the window frame to hide the metal curtain treatment holding the regular curtains.

Mark where the curtain ends by drawing a small pencil mark on the wood window frame on both ends of the rod. This spot determines where to place the sconce brackets.

Measure 1 inch toward the window from each of the pencil marks and place a second pencil mark at this spot. This is where the sconce brackets will be placed.

Place a bracket on the inner pencil mark and secure it into the window frame with a wood screw and screwdriver drill. Drill the other bracket into the window frame on the other side of the window, using the inner pencil markings, wood screws and drill.

Slide the curtain rod sconces on the brackets by placing the opening in the back of the sconce slightly above the brackets and pulling down gently until the sconce is firmly set on the bracket.

Unscrew the end of the curtain rod to fit the rod through one sconce from the outside edge through to the other sconce. Once the rod has entered through both sconces, replace the end cap.
