How to Give a Wall a New Look Without Painting

Hang wallpaper on the wall in lieu of painting. Wallpaper comes in limitless colors, textures and patterns, so you can find any kind to match your decor. It is even available in mural-form so you can have a large-scale image on your wall without hiring an artist. Buy self-adhesive wallpaper for easier application.

Stretch a large, attractive piece of fabric across a large canvas frame, and staple it in place to create an oversized wall art. Other wall art can include paintings, photographs and mirrors. Choose large pieces that cover most of the available wall space to give the wall a new look.

Install tiles on the wall. Like wallpaper, tiles are available in nearly limitless styles, shapes and sizes. You can opt for tiny mosaic tiles or large outdoor-style tiles. Play with them to create an interesting pattern to cover the wall.

Hang a large quilt on the wall. Quilts are usually sewn by artisans and have a wooden frame at the top, making them easy to hang. It can have a special meaning or simply a pattern or color you adore. Some quilts are even large enough to completely cover a small wall.

Attach wall decals, which come in large shapes that mimic murals. Or you can buy several smaller ones to create a pattern on the wall.
