How to Duct Tape a Picture to the Wall

Its three layers of material -- adhesive, fabric mesh, and plastic -- lend duct tape its well-reputed strength. Commonly used for quick fixes, duct tape has grown in use because of its reliability. People looking to hang a picture can use this tape to easily affix the photo to a wall. Duct tape's durability makes it unlikely that the pic will fall off anytime soon. However; you should take care that the adhesive does not become a problem.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a square of masking tape on a wall, sized to fit the photo to be placed on the wall. You can also make a rectangular shape if the picture is wider than it is long or vice versa.

    • 2

Create small rolls of duct tape for the picture. Each roll is simply a small loop that has the sticky side of tape facing out. Place one or two rolls on the top, bottom and sides of the picture, using more for larger photos.

    • 3

Place the picture on the wall, lining it up with the square or rectangle of masking tape. Sticking the duct tape to the masking tape protects your wall from the duct tape's adhesive; the remnants of masking tape are easier to remove.

    • 4

Use double-sided duct tape. Some brands come complete with adhesive on both sides, making it simple and quick to use for pictures to be mounted temporarily.

    • 5

Spray water-displacing adhesive remover to get rid of sticky tape residue. This is an efficient way to take adhesive off a wall when your picture is ready to come off. Let the spray sit for a moment before wiping it away.
