How to Paint a Tree in the Corner of the Room

A tree mural adds a bold focal point to any part of the house. Branching out from the corner of the room, your tree can appear in stark silhouette or full color to suit the design of your space. Trees of any type bring the distinct look and feel of nature into the home. Paired with varying shades of green, brown and blue, this type of wall art will create a soothing space where you can’t help but strain your ears for the sounds of birdsong.

Instructions

    • 1

Sketch an image of the tree you want to use for your mural onto a piece of paper in pencil. Include lush leaves for a bright springtime look. A solid silhouette of a tree with branches alone brings a touch of mystery to the design.

    • 2

Transfer the design of the tree onto a transparency in marker for a permanent template that you can follow for the tree mural.

    • 3

Project the transparency onto the wall to give you a basis for your tree mural. Use a pencil to sketch the outline of your tree onto the wall. Situate the tree so that equal portions of the trunk are on each of the two adjacent walls. Extend the branches evenly onto both of the walls.

Follow the lines of the sketch you've made with a paintbrush to fill in your tree mural. Use a single solid color for a silhouette, or paint the tree in realistic shades of brown and green for a more lifelike effect. If you’re painting the tree in color, decide where the light for the mural is coming from, and shade the features of the tree consistently.
