Take one piece of a drapery grommet and set it in a position three-quarters of an inch from the right edge of the curtain, in the top fight corner. The placement relative to the top of the curtain depends on your curtain design, but should also be at least three-quarters of an inch from the top. Draw a circular outline along the inside of the grommet with a marker.
Draw a second outline on the left side of the curtain, repeating Step 1.
Mark the remainder of the curtain holes between the starter holes drawn in Steps 1 and 2. Space the holes evenly and between 6 to 10 inches apart. The more closely spaced the curtain holes, the tighter the upper hem and more even the lower hem will be. Make sure all the holes are exactly the same distance from the top of the curtain to ensure a straight line.
Cut out the circular markings with scissors, cutting a hole just outside the perimeter of the circle.
Fit one half of a drapery grommet on the top of first hole and the other half of the grommet on the bottom. Fit the two halves together. Most drapery grommets are mated by pushing them together with your hands, but some require taps from a rubber mallet.
