No matter the shape, plain or ornate fasteners called mirror clips quickly and securely attach the mirror to the bathroom wall. Mirror clips are typically made of steel, brass, pewter and plastic. Unless the mirror is especially heavy, four mirror clips are usually sufficient to hang most frameless mirrors.

Instructions

    • 1

Position the mirror on the bathroom wall where you intend to install it. Rest a carpenter's level on any horizontal surface of the mirror. Adjust the mirror's position, if necessary to straighten the mirror. Trace a faint line with a chalk pencil on the wall, indicating the positions of the upper and lower edges of the mirror.

    • 2

Hold the carpenter's level vertically on the wall 2 to 3 inches from the left edge of the lines scribed on the wall. With the level vertical, mark the points where the level crosses the chalk lines. Repeat to mark the lines on the right sides of the lines.

    • 3

Place the point of the awl on one lower pilot-hole mark. Use a mallet to tap the awl, making a hole through the drywall. Because force on the mirror clips is vertical, it is not necessary to screw them into framing studs or the use wall anchors. Repeat to make a pilot hole through the opposite mark on the lower edge.

    • 4

Install the lower mirror clips. Align the screw hole in the mirror clip to the pilot hole. Using a screwdriver and screw provided in the kit, screw the clip to the wall. Repeat to install the remaining lower clip. Position the mirror on the wall, supported by the lower mirror clips. Place the upper clips on the top of the mirror, in line with the vertical chalk marks. Pass the tip of the awl through the screw holes in the mirror clips to mark their positions on the wall.

Remove the clips. Use the mallet to make pilot holes in the wall at the screw-hole marks. Reposition the mirror clips on the upper edge of the mirror, aligning the screw holes with the pilot holes. Screw the clips in place.
