How to Make a Temporary Wall Out of Sheets

Many instances arise when you need to temporarily divide a wall, such as when you have two people sharing a room for a short time. Hanging up sheets between the two spaces offers you a simple way to divide the space. You can accomplish this task using wire or a tension bar to hang the sheets. Both are relatively simple to use and easy to take down once you no longer need the temporary wall.

Instructions

  1. Wire

    • 1

Measure the distance between the two walls. Also determine how high you want to hang the sheets. You may need to use more than one sheet.

    • 2

Make a hem at one end of the sheet(s). The hem should be big enough so that the wire can pass through it. Insert the wire through the hem. Make sure that there's at least 8 inches of wire left at each end to string into the eye hooks.

    • 3

Insert the eye hooks into the wall.

    • 4

Hang the wire with the sheet on it between the two eye hooks.

    • 5

Pull the ends of the wire through the eye hooks, securing the ends with the wire rope clamp. The extra 8 inches on each end will go into the clamps, as will the main wire; the clamps will bind the wires together.

    Tension Rod

    • 6

Hem the sheet so that the hem can accommodate the width of the rod.

    • 7

Insert the rod into the sheet's hem.

    • 8

Position the rod between the two walls.
