How to Dress Large Front Door Windows

Front doors often have windows next to them, above them or inside the door. If these are plain glass, you may want to dress them up, either for seasonal celebrations or day-to-day decor. You can use different methods to spruce up front door windows. Make sure that whatever method you use doesn't interfere with the function of the door, such as loose curtains catching in the door.

Instructions

Cover the windows in decorative curtain panels by installing French door rods at the top and bottom of the window. Use curtain panels with a pocket at the top and bottom and slide the rods into the pockets. Open the curtains slightly by tying them at the center with an ornamental sash to let the light in.

Stick window film to the glass by cutting the film to fit the window, peeling the paper off the back and sticking it to the window so it covers all the glass. Window film is available in frosted or decorated patterns, such as faux stained glass windows. The film adds privacy while filtering light. It is found at home decor and hardware stores.

Paint the windows using glass paint to create a stained glass finish. Plan your design out on paper first before applying it to the window. Wipe off any mistakes with a dry rag and continue working. You need to have a steady hand for this project but it allows you to create any look you desire.

Add seasonal flare to the windows by hanging wreaths, garlands or lights during the winter holidays. Window clings attach to the window using static electricity and are available for any other holidays, such as Easter or Halloween.
