How to Decorate a Hexagon-Shaped Wall

Odd-shaped walls, such as a hexagon shape, can present a decorating challenge. This doesn't mean the space should be left to go to waste, however. While there is no specific right or wrong way to decorate a six-sided wall, there are some obvious ways you can use the odd shape to highlight your favorite wall decor or to give the rest of your room a geometric personality.

Instructions

Hang a small hexagon-shaped framed mirror in the center of the wall. Replicating the shape of the wall on a smaller scale enhances the hexagon, while the space between the borders of the mirror and the edges of the wall become a border themselves. The mirror in the center of the shape also provides a focal point and adds some balance.

Hang a candle holder with tapered candles on the wall in line with the upper or lower slanted lines of the outer hexagon shape. Place this above or below the line of your mirror to help add some shape to the layout. Place smaller framed photographs in the upper or lower corners of the hexagon to add balance to the overall presentation and to keep the wall from appearing too linear.

Hang a plaque, framed family photograph or a piece of artwork on the wall to finish the look. Place the artwork slightly below or above the mirror. Use a bigger piece of art and a smaller mirror if you prefer the art to be the focal point. Colorful, abstract art using geometric shapes can complement the shape of the wall.
