Thread the upper curtain rod through the upper rod pocket opening of the sheer curtains. Repeat with the lower curtain rod and lower rod pocket opening. Grasp the upper curtain road with both hands and hold it against the door to establish the correct position for your door sheer.
Draw a small "x" on the door using a pencil at the point where you want the upper left-hand corner of the door sheer to hang. Put the door sheer down. Measure the distance from the top of the door to the mark you made. Measure the distance from the left hand side of the door frame to your mark. Write down these measurements.
Hold a tape measure at the top of the right-hand side of the door. Measure the same distances down from the top and in from the right-hand edge of the door as your original mark on the left-hand side of the door. This ensures that your upper rod stays level and centered properly over the glass on the door.
Place the curtain rod bracket over your mark on the left-hand side of the door, and mark the required number of screw holes with a pencil. Most brackets use an upper and lower screw for a secure fit. Repeat with the right-hand bracket. Put the bracket aside.
Insert a small drill bit into your electric drill. Drill a pilot hole directly on top of your pencil marks. Hold the bracket up to your pilot holes, and screw the screws into the door. If you are attaching the door sheer to a metal door, you can omit the pilot holes and simply use sheet metal screws. Repeat for the upper right hand bracket.
Place the curtain rod onto the brackets you just intstalled. Sit on the floor and mark the lower bracket positions. To allow the door sheer to hang tightly, mark the bracket positions on the left and right sides of the door about 1/4 to 1/2-inch lower than the point where the lower rod hangs.
Remove the door sheer from the upper brackets. Mark and drill the lower pilot holes as you did for the upper brackets. Screw the lower brackets securely to the door using a drill or a screwdriver.
Hang your door sheer on the upper and lower brackets. Move the door sheer fabric along the upper and lower rods until the sheers appear evenly distributed along the rods.
