Removing Hunter Douglas Faux Wood Blinds

Hunter Douglas is a brand-name manufacturer of a wide variety of blinds and other window treatments. Besides making real wood blinds, they make alternative wood blinds that look like the real thing. These faux blinds don't fade, warp or bow. Whether you've decided to update your Hunter Douglas blinds, or change the look of your windows by using a different type of treatment, your first step is to remove the existing blinds. Taking them down is not a difficult or time-consuming task.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the hold-down pins on each side of the bottom rail of the Hunter Douglas blind. Slide the pins on both the left and right sides out of the slots on the hold-down brackets. Pull the single cord down to raise the blind up to the top. Unscrew the hold-down brackets from the wall and remove them.

    • 2

Remove the wand from the Hunter Douglas blind. Slide the plastic sleeve at the top of the wand up to reveal a hook and shaft. Remove the hook from the hole in the metal shaft.

    • 3

Tilt the valance up, unsnap it from the clips on the head rail and remove it.

    • 4

Locate the left and right close end brackets on each side of the head rail. They hold the Hunter Douglas faux wood blinds in place. Raise the cover on each bracket so it unsnaps from the locking tab on the bottom of the bracket.

    • 5

Grasp the head rail firmly. Tilt it so its back lip can slide out from under the front lip on the end brackets. Remove the head rail of the Hunter Douglas faux wood blinds. Unscrew the end brackets and remove them.
