How to Get the Wrinkles Out of JC Penney Supreme Drapes

JC Penney Supreme Drapes are easy-to-hang window coordinates made of rayon and acetate. Both rayon and acetate can be beneficial to use as window dressing materials since they tend to drape well and usually do not attract much static. Acetate offers a crisp soft touch that dyes well, allowing for a variety of colors of drapes. Unfortunately, rayon can wrinkle easily, making it necessary to press the drapes once in a while. Rayon and acetate can be professionally pressed at the dry cleaners, but yards and yards of drapes can be pricey to launder. With a little care, you can iron the drapes yourself at home.

Instructions

    • 1

Set your iron on the lowest temperature that it will go. Rayon burns easily and requires only a mild amount of heat for pressing.

    • 2

Take the drapes down from the windows. Remove and iron one panel at a time; having drapes that are lying around or scrunched up can cause them to obtain more wrinkles.

    • 3

Lay the drapes over your ironing board. Start ironing at one end and keep shuffling the material across the board until the entire drape is ironed. Spread the ironed portion of the particular panel that you are working on out flat on the floor as the portions cascade over the ironing board; do not let the drape fold onto itself, which can cause wrinkles.

Immediately re-hang the panel as soon as you have finished pressing it.
